Building an effective and happy organisation

This month, Zig Ziglar shows us how his "you can have everything in life you want" philosophy is particularly applicable to the training process.

In network marketing, if you’ve given your Downline the tools they need to succeed, it ensures your own success as well. Even in a traditional business set-up, adequately training your team can help guarantee both your continuing success and their job satisfaction.

Zig says that it’s important in any business setting to create an atmosphere that says, "You are more than a number to this organisation. We want you to know everything you need to know to do the best job possible to ensure your future. We want you to feel safe and relaxed because we care about you and how you function within our organisation. We understand that your contentment with your work directly affects your productivity, which affects our profitability and the security of everyone we work with. We want you to succeed because you are an important team member."

Zig offers four sure-fire steps to ensure your organisation’s members are happy and effective:

1. Make sure your new Distributor has a clear understanding of what is required from them. Expecting people to live up to your standards, when they have no idea what those standards are, is unfair, unrealistic, and counter productive. Communicate your expectations!

2. Never leave new Distributors to fend for themselves on day one. The feeling of uncertainty and insecurity can be overwhelming. Always walk people through their duties to make sure you’re all on the same page.

3. Regularly review people’s progress. The fact that you review and offer guidance to your Downline doesn't mean that you don't trust them. What this approach communicates is that you're interested in what they're doing. Regular reviews also give you the opportunity to praise, encourage, and offer suggestions.

4. Set a standard for each Distributor to follow. People need a way to gauge how they are doing. People who know the standard can strive to exceed beyond their goals and your expectations.
